CK3 Wrap Up

Thanks everyone for another great CK. You can check out all the pics here.

What a match it was.  For the first time in the young 3 year history of the event, the matches were close heading into Sunday singles. Tied in fact!!  Standing on the 13 tee yesterday, having just got updates from all groups, EVERY single match was all square or 1 up.  Although Team Eag ended up taking the trophy by a 10.5 to 5.5 margin, it really could’ve gone either way.

Congrats to both Captains and both vibesman.  Can’t wait for next year already.

Here are some best of’s.  Feel free to add some.

Best shot of the tourney – YAHK.   Holed out second shot on 16 in sunday singles.

Best putt of tourney and subsequent reaction. MOLE.  30 footer on 18 that would still be rolling if it hadn’t hit the hole to seal the deal against his long time friend and rival Eel.  He followed it up with a Joey Bats putter flip.

Most crucial putt of the tourney.  MOLE. Again on 18 in the alternate shot.  10 footer to secure Blues only point in the morning.  Kept our hopes and vibes high.

Best heavyweight tilt to start the tourney.  YORK/DILLO vs RAM/HARRY.  Both teams under par in pure alternate was very impressive.  York/Dillo won this match in the end.

Toughest Saturday team. YAHK/PAND.  Runner-up was Mole/Poss.   Both squads went 2-0 on Sat.

Rookie of the Year – POSS. 3-0 record. All 3 of his matches he was down 3(but never 4) at one point.

Most clutch up and down. SLUG.  Gets up and down from 40 yards on 16 to avoid “winning” the INMATE.  Sorry Silver.

MVPs of Saturday night.  HARRY/EEL/EAGLE for making it out to the DUKE.

Best entrance.  MOLE (hes on here a lot).  Rolling up to his Team Eag meeting at 745, rolls down the window, slams a Banquet beer.  Does a loop, slams some more and tosses his empty can out the window.

Best exit.  OTTER – Saturday night, stumbles to the VGC gates.  Places fireworks down.  Backs off. 4 cars drive by.  Kneels down again to light it.  Sets if off. There was a spectacular amount of smoke.  Surprised the OBFD wasn’t called.

Best celebration. MOLE Pouring champagne all over himself in the 19th.

Best strategic move – EAG –  buying Moose a whisky between Saturday’s rounds.

Best new tradition – Having someone from the proshop hit the opening drive for each session.  Thanks to Crane, Womby and Bison. Next year we are getting Gina.

Runner-up best new tradition – Vibesman buying team coloured beer.

Runner-up to the runner-up best new tradition. (wolf loves his traditions)  PLAYING FOR THE HATS.

Biggest monkey off their backs – WOLF/OWL/MOLE all winning their first CK, after being on the losing side the first 2 years.

Looking into the future – Next years monkey off their backs.  YAHK will finally get his first team win.  HARRY (aka Jison Dye) will get that elusive first match win.

Most inspirational CK player – JAV – playing through pain on Sunday and grinding out a jav a point (see what I did there?) against our 14 time club champ.

Best beard – POLAR

Best dressed vibesman – TOAD

Last but not least.  Otter’s CK poem from last year:

My lips are chapped and my skin is dry

My insides feel like I’m about to die.

Too many smokes have left my lungs in pain

I need new pants due to a butt gravy stain

Some money lost, and pride too

For time well spent with one heck of a crew

CK forever

Wouldn’t trade it for the world….it’s called a vibe gomes.
