Summary

COTTONWOOD CLASSIC

Match 92 – Hound/Mole over Owl/Moose. This one started with a BATCH by H/M on the first hole, which is a very short par 4.  H/M started to claw back and grabbed their first lead on 5.  The built it all the way up to 5 after 9, but then it slowly started to slip away.  O/M ties it up on 17, but after a lost Moose ball and a Feather by Mole on 18 – it was all OVA.   Owl wins the CC gross title 77 to 78.

Nanners Round 1

Match 93 – Eel/Silver over Ram/Mole.  The front 9 was highlighted by some hot play from Eel.  feather on 14, FLAPPER on 16 and feather on 18 had him 1 under on the front and 2 up in the match.  R/M got the lead back after hole 3 (12 for the day) but a big feather on 4 from Eel, 1 pointer on 5 and a 2 pointer on 6 got him and Silv to 4 up.  Smooth sailing and it was NIGHT NIGHT from there.  Eel with the LEVEL par 72 – only one back of the tournament first round lead.  Also his 11th W in a row.

Match 94 – Jav/Moose over Hound/Owl.  J/M grabbed their first lead on 12(hole 3 for the day)….The lead toggled between 1 and 2 for the rest of the front 9. On the back 9 – the lead was always between 2 and 4 – but H/O could never build on anything when they got the tee back. Solid play by Jav down the stretch.

Match 95 – Eag/Lion over Wolf/Grizz.  Front 9 was highlighted by Eags domination for the par 5s.  FLAPPER on 14 and FEATHER on 16 had him and Lion up 2 after 9.  Back 9 – Eag/Lion for they lead up to 14 after a FEATHER by Lion on 5.  W/G got 2 right back – but could not get any closer.

Group 3 won the AX -14 to -9 to -7 (group 2).

Nanners Round 2

Match 96 – Eag/Grizz over Lion/Wolf.  After Grizz made a “Stress free par” and Lion made a “Stress free 9” on the first hole they lost 2.  The rest of the front E/G were between 3 and 5 up.  On the back 9 – Lion and Wolf held on for dear life to not get PLd which they did.  But Eag and Grizz had a comfortable DUB.

Match 97 – Jav/Owl over Hound/Moose.  this was the Jav show.  After an even par opening 9 and a nice feather by Owl on 5 0 J/O found themselves 5 up.  H/M got 2 back on 10, but there momentum was thwarted with BATCH on 11.  Pretty much night night from there.  5 under Net for OL JAV.

Match 98 – Ram/Silver TIED Eel/Mole.  This was a REAL back and forth affair.  Both teams holding 2 up leads on the front, with Mole/Eel ending 2 up.  After R/S picked up 2 on 10 – we were AS. Next 3 holes were halved – E/M go 1 on 14 but lost one on 15,16,17 to go 2 down.  WIll the streak finally be over.  NOPE.  2 on 18 by Mole and Eel and we had our first and only tie on 2016.    Streak is still on.

Groups 2 and 3 tied the AX at 9 under while Group 1 was 7 under.

Nanners Round 3

Match 99 – Eel/Lion over Mole/Turkey Vulture.  Another back and forth front 9.  Both teams had multiple lead but none greater than 1.   After 10 we were AS> Big 2 by Mole and TV to go 2 up after 11 – but they would lose the tee on 12 and then lose 2 on 13 to go 1 down.  They would tie it up on 15 but would lose the lead for good on 16 after a feather by Eel and never recover.

That makes 12 in a row for Eel (I treat the tie as a non-event for streaks).

The Nanners and CC produced a lot of BWOKEN BWACKS and ANCHORS.  In the 8 matches played we had SEVEN 10 shots, both occurring on winning and losing sides.  Probably putting everything out helped contribute a bit to that, but WOW.  Jav was 2/2 for 10 shotting his opponents.

Congrats to Eagle for winning the GROSS side and Jav for winning the NET SIDE.

Wolf Best Of’s

Best of’s Nanners 8 edition:
*Best new Line*: “Stress-free 9”  Lion right after Grizz said “stress free par” on the opening hole while Lion was basically having the most stressful hole ever.
*Best new bit*: “Im gonna go take a piss out my huge dick” Moose
*Best new tradition that commish was kinda hoping it would never happen because its funnier just to talk about it happening*:   The RIVER
*Best round*:  Eel’s LEVEL par opening round.  Runner-up – Jav’s 75 round 2 off an 8!
*Best golfer*: Eag.  Despite struggling under the limelight – still managed to play hard and well down the stretch to win the LEVEL over Eel.   Oh did I mention he won horse race and chip over the……..
*Funniest zoom-in*: CottonWood Classic picture.  Seeing Jav with no shirt on while being a vibesman.  Then Zooming in to see Mole lining up a putt with no shirt on.
*Best surprise*: Harry flying in from Europe to surpise us at Chicken and Ribs Dinner.
*Best movie quote*: “Squeal like a pig BOYYYYY…REEEEEEEER”  Moose when asked if he had ever seen Deliverance.
*Best rookie*:  Silver.  Only rookie, but still.  Guy shows up with a camper, the kegs, fishing rods, and a smile from ear to ear.  Great bounce back after R1 – to get out of INMATE contention.
*Best Vibesman*: Otter, Toad, Harry, Newt.  Kudos to Harry and Newt for buying shirts and really getting into their roles.  But stay 20- yards away from the players please!
*Most on fire*:  Moose in the lake…….And mole before chip over the…….
*Fastest Driver*: Ram – 59 minutes from hillside to Kilmarnock Farms.  Par fricken Don.
*Best bit that I wish was caught on camera*:    Wolfy’s fake piano bit.
*Other best new tradition*:  The big snooker tourney that only makes it half way through the first round.
*Funniest Slack Message*: “Mole and Nathan 1 up…..1 under ax”
*Biggest relief*: Finding out that Moretti is gonna host it again next year.
*Worst run Nanners*: Nanners 8.  ($5 for 2 balls, and no flood lights for chip over the…..no animal groups for last round…..shitty rules official who was an ANTI-vibesman…..no betting on horse race………still don’t know who the guy that ran the tourney looks like. Etc.”
